A Real Woman Only Reveals What She Wants You To See

We all love mystery. The ability to discover something new, decode a secret or to hide something so that it only belongs to ourselves and a few others. Women in history have been notorious in creating a public image v. a private image. It's a little bit like Billy Joel's song, "She only reveals what she wants you to see".

I think a number of women have gotten caught up in over-exposing themselves. Not just in the sense that there's too much skin showing, but also in revealing too much private information. Sometimes it's better to leave a few private details for the imagination and not to provide every intimate circumstance with our lives to the world. It almost makes a woman less appealing, and less mysterious (and remember men like mystery) when every detail of you life is on Facebook, Twitter and Google. Have you tried Googling yourself? See how much information is out there about you that you would prefer was not there. You might not think it's a big deal right now as you flounder your way through high school and college, but 10 years down the round you might regret blabbing to the whole world your negative opinions.

Sauce of Life Tips for the Mysterious Woman:

  • Keep your private, intimate details for only a few close friends. Even then, it's better to reveal less than to reveal more.
  • Social Media sites should remain for the trivial and fun times of your life. Keep the negative opinions to yourself.
  • If you don't complain, people will want to be around you.
  • Sometimes it's better for people to think you are living the "charmed" life, even if you aren't. Your dirty laundry should not be aired to the world.
  • When dating a man, don't start going into your family drama early on in the relationship. This will definitely be a turn-off. Men want to solve problems, not just listen to your ranting. Save the drama for your close girlfriends and definitely keep it off Facebook!

Is the Word "Commitment" Not In Your Vocabulary?

It has become a known fact that current generations have a difficult time committing to much of anything. Whether it's a commitment to a job, a college degree, RSVPing to a party, a coffee date or even keeping friendships alive, no matter what the circumstance, it is almost impossible for people to make any sort of definitive answer to anything!

Are you this type of person? Do you wait until the very last minute to respond to a party invitation, just in case something better comes along? Or do you have a difficult time signing a two year contract for your new job, just in case you receive an unexpected call from a head hunter? Is it impossible for you to finish college because you know the time and labor that is involved, and wow that just might stress you out too much? All those situations sound ridiculous, right? Wrong! Most of society now views "commitments" as burdensome and annoying. Even cell phone companies are turning to "no contract" plans. Couples also have an extremely difficult time taking marriage vows. But why is that? Why can't we be satisfied with where we are at each specific moment and be willing to take the next step?

But where does my biggest annoyance come into all this? It's due to the fact that because no one wants to commitment to ANYTHING, the level of selfishness has increased two-fold and many people have been hurt in the process. Those people who want to see the good in everyone, who want everyone to have a good time and enjoy life rarely think about their needs and are pushed to the back-burner while the rest of the world steps over them to get what they want, when they want it.

Yes, I understand, I life is hard and schedules get busy. For example, things happen when you are unable to attend an event that you had originally responded "yes" to the host and that's completely fine. First of all, you did RSVP, which seems to be a "dated" form of etiquette now. If you are unable to come at the last minute, make sure to tell the host you are unable to make it now. The host should understand, and if he doesn't then he's being the selfish one. Everyone is busy, and oftentimes things happen at the last minute we do not have control of, so don't make presumptions that someone is intentionally trying to hurt you. Now, if they cancel on a continual basis, then maybe your presumptions are correct.

Doesn't there seem to be a parallel between the ability to make commitments and also having a fuller and healthier life? Have we all become such lost souls that wandering aimlessly suits our needs more than having a stable life? Everyone tries to make New Year Resolutions, we attempt begin new diets "the next day", but most of the promises we make are empty. Why can't we work each and everyday of our lives to improve ourselves, and make lasting promises? Instead of focusing on ourselves and what we want at each exact moment, let's try to amend our lives not only for the good of ourselves, but for the good of everyone. Let's work on making solid commitments!

The Sugar and Spice Moments of Life

We all have a little bit of sweetness and a little bit of sauciness. It comes out at different times and in different circumstances of our lives. Sometimes we need to pay more attention to our emotions and our quick responses. Our world has become obsessed with "finding ourselves", "climbing the ladder" or "never letting anyone walk all over us". While, yes, all these things have their proper place and time, these shouldn't be our motto for life. There will be times we must stick up for ourselves, our beliefs/morals and work to gain that position we have been striving for, but this doesn't mean we should coast through life with a negative opinion of everyone and be constantly on the fence ready to attack anyone that differs from our position.

The simplicity and beauty of a flower should be how we approach the craziness of life.

As human beings who wish to be loved and to love in return, we need to focus on the simple things in life, the small successes that help us reach our larger goals. We don't need to walk over everyone to climb the ladder of success, oftentimes that ladder will be reached quicker with less chaos when we use our innate relationship with others to work with them instead of working against them.

So, what's the lesson? Life has its sugar and spice moments, those moments when we are extremely gentle and kind and those moments when we must stand up for ourselves or others (those horrible, unpleasant situations), but for the most part we should fill the majority of circumstances with the "sugar" moments. We will get further in life and eventually, when we get older, there will be much less regret if we learn to love and work with others, instead of always pushing our own agenda.

The best moments in life can be found in a cupcake.
